Sansoni surrendered from the Australian Human Rights Commission successfully on 1 August 2016 to take up a position as Regal Commissioner for the Regal Commission into the Child Welfare and Youth Custody Systems of the Northern Territory.
He initiated his term as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner in mid 2010. As Social Justice Commissioner, he advocates for the privileges of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people groups in Australia and tries to advance regard and comprehension of these rights among the more extensive Australian people group.
He is especially enthusiastic about shutting the wellbeing hole amongst Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians; a move he says is “non-debatable”.
